One of the most important parts of the electrical process is the planning. Your future electrician has lots to consider when designing an electrical plan to ensure your needs are met, electrical regulations are met and that there will be no electrical issues further down the track. They need to ensure the wiring is not overloaded to switch boards, light switches are conveniently placed throughout the house, power points are in the right places for electrical devices, communications lines are conveniently placed and wiring is in the right place for your outdoor lighting.
TOSH CIVIL ELECTRICAL LTD are a team of experienced professionals who know the in's and out's of electrical planning. They'll be with you every step of the way from when you decide where the power points are going to fitting your lights and connecting your appliances.
What to expect
We will come at many different stages of the build.
You will want to get in contact as soon as possible in order to get a temporary power source set up on site as other tradesmen will need access to power.
Underground cables will need to be run before any permanent foundations are laid ie.concrete.
Wiring will be run throughout the house at the framing stage (before any gib is put up).
Fittings and appliances will get connected after plastering. Then we will do a final check and sign off.
6 Things to know
1. PLAN OUTLET LOCATIONS
Planning the location of outlets is important to ensure electrical equipment will be in the correct place for things like dishwashers, range hoods etc, it's important that these devices have a connection to electricity. It's important that you the home owners and your electrician discuss your ideas and then consult with you to create a good solution that will work for your home. The best possible way to achieve a solid plan is to print out your house plans and meet with your electrician to mark out where everything within the home is going to go so the electrician can create a design that ensures outlets are right where they need to be.
2. UNDERSTANDING THE WIRING YOUR HOME NEEDS
It's essential to take into account important factors when planning the wiring your home needs, for example how many people will living in the house, hardwired appliances and lighting outlets. These factors determine the wiring system that will be the most efficient for your home. There are three types of wiring systems: surface conduit wiring, lead sheathed wiring and the most popular concealed conduit wiring. Concealed wiring is a very aesthetically pleasing system as it hides the conduits behind walls and plastering. Make sure to discuss with your electrician which option is best suited for you and the house your building.
3. DO YOU NEED EXTRA POWER?
If you’re someone who works from home, has a hobby that uses a lot of power or have things like a home based theatre system that uses plenty of power having a large advanced wiring system will be the best option for you and your home.
4. CONSIDERING ENERGY EFFICIENCY
In this day and age it's become a lot more aware of the negative environment effects and of course the rising costs. Having a control system that gives you the opportunity to moderate the costs of energy is becoming a popular option to ease peace of mind. Such systems will save you money, can be remotely controlled from your home and are a safe option to ensure your house is safe when you’re not there. These types of systems can start off as a simple plug in device that control appliance usage and your electrician doesn’t need to be consulted about these. A more advanced system that integrates the energy in the house with the fluctuating price of power throughout the day and integrates solar panels are also available. Although these systems save a good amount of money they also have other great benefits like allowing you to have full control over the operation of ventilation panels when your aren't home, operating air conditioning, regulating things like a swimming pool and controlling the lighting system when you aren’t home which will deter thieves by thinking the home is full of people. The effect power has on the environment or the price isn’t going to significantly change anytime soon, in order to play your part on reducing energy emissions, improve your standard of living and preserve the plant be sure to mention your interest to your electrician
5. CUSTOM LIGHTING SWITCHES
Lighting switches are no longer basic there are so many options to suit your home. Get creative by having a modern lighting switch like LED control panels or add in an usb port for charging your phones. Discuss with your electrician what options are available for you and your home.
6. CHOOSE THE RIGHT ELECTRICIAN
Having the right electrician is the most important part of the electrics in your home you need someone who is experienced and can communicate effectively. Your electrician should talk you through the whole process to make sure you’re aware of what will b happening when, discuss deadlines and practices to ensure that their jobs won't interfere with the rest of construction.
