A Taūpo home was engulfed in flames after a blaze sparked in the middle of the night.
Fire and Emergency responded to a house fire on Forest Rd in Mokai at 11.45pm on Thursday night.
The six-by-10m rural home was well ablaze when firefighters arrived, and six fire trucks and a water tanker fought to extinguish it.
It was initially thought someone was in the house, but all persons were accounted for.
Crews were dampening down hot spots by 1.20am, and left the scene at 2.30am.
A fire investigator has been advised.
