Uber is launching in six new New Zealand cities in October.
Commuters in Rotorua, Taupo, Napier-Hastings, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Nelson will be able to use the app in their cities.
That will extend Uber's network to 13 cities in the country. It is available in 700 cities around the world
The world's largest ride-hailing service recently reported its biggest loss- over US$5 billion (NZ$7 billion) - and its slowest-ever revenue growth following a disappointing sharemarket debut in the US.
"We're confident we can make turning on six cities at once work because we've got the best technical minds - both homegrown and from around the globe - committed to making the launch a success," said Amanda Gilmore, Uber's New Zealand country manager.
"The extension means New Zealand's tally of Uber connected cities will climb from seven to thirteen. Uber is nearly doubling our city portfolio overnight."
Uber said it has 6500 "partners" in New Zealand, most of them supplementing their income with part-time work through the company.
"We anticipate more will follow extending further opportunities to even more New Zealanders who are looking for another way to support their families by driving on weekends and in peak tourist seasons," said Gilmore.
Uber-owned Jump e-scooters are sharing an 18-month trial in the capital, the first Asia-Pacific city to welcome Uber's newest venture.
