Whakaipo Lodge Summer Concert
An exciting afternoon of live music is set to unfold with The Silver Hammers, a five-piece band featuring local Kapiti musicians, who will deliver a fresh take on classic Beatles songs. This unique performance reimagines many fan favourites with new keys, rhythm styles, and arrangements, offering something different for every listener. From swing versions of "I'll Cry Instead" to jazz-infused takes on "You Won’t See Me" and "You Like Me Too Much," the band promises a dynamic and diverse setlist. While songs like "Revolution," "Lady Madonna," and "No Reply" remain true to their original arrangements, fans will also be treated to plenty of surprises.
The Silver Hammers include drummer Anje Glindemann and keyboard player Wayne Mason, a former member of The Fourmyula, who once recorded at Abbey Road alongside The Beatles. Guitarists Ramon Oza, Andrew London, and Kirsten London complete the talented lineup, ensuring a memorable performance.
Opening the event, The Andrew London Duo will take the stage, performing a set of their original music, setting the scene for an afternoon filled with musical enjoyment.
This concert also supports a great cause, as funds will be raised for the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter. Attendees are encouraged to bring along some cash for the collection bucket.
Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic, but there will be food and beverage vendors available for those who want to indulge on-site.
