Waipahihi Botanical Gardens are located at the top of Shepherd Road, Taupo and are open daily until dusk for visitors to enjoy.
"A New Zealand Forest in the Making", there are 35 hectares with well over 2,000 rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas intermingled in the forest trees with other feature plantings. There are plenty of places to stop and rest among the trees or open spaces with picnic tables and seats. There are numerous walking trails throughout the Reserve with themes like rhododendron, camellia, lemonwood and The Floral Walk. There are also many native trees including kauri, flax, rata and much more.
The Waipahihi Botanical Gardens are run by volunteers with entry donations appreciated.
